About

Rock Rest Eco-Cabin is your ultimate Rocky Mountain off grid get-away! Located on a 2 acre tree covered hillside just 45 minutes from Colorado Springs, this unique cabin offers a feeling of relaxing seclusion with ALL the amenities of a modern hotel resort. Featuring stunning views of Pikes Peak, huge porch, giant windows, hip décor, and amazing wildlife; our nearest neighbors are a wolf rescue and private fishing resort.

Green Living

Rock Rest ECO-Cabin was custom designed and built by the owner, a Denver based architect, in 2018. Each feature was selected, custom fabricated, and hand built by the owners, right down to the furniture. His goal was to create a totally original structure that combines modern lines with rustic textures and has a minimum impact on the environment. Even during construction, a crane was used to hoist materials over the trees as to disturb the site as little as possible. Rock Rest is a living art piece, and we are excited to share it with you!

The cabin utilizes reclaimed and locally sourced material, plus cutting edge building technology to provide an experience that is as comfortable and convenient.

  • above code insulation
  • high efficiency windows
  • modern building wrap
  • reclaimed 100 year old wood siding and locally sourced beams
  • automatic composting septic / flushing toilet system (poo feeds the trees! Don’t worry, there’s no smell!)
  • high efficiency tankless electric hot water heater (never run out of hot water!)
  • ductless high efficiency heating and cooling system, plus wood burning stove
  • rainwater collecting cistern
  • low-wattage indoor and outdoor LED lighting

Many guests say their favorite thing is enjoying a hot cup of coffee on the enormous twin XL daybed porch swing in the morning. The cabin sits on a 2 acre hillside that is heavily treed with pines and aspens. The front porch over looks our meadow where deer graze on a daily basis, and the back porch over looks a neighboring farm below Pikes Peak. We have also seen elk, bears, raccoons, skunks, and mountain lions. You can often hear the wolves at the neighboring preserve howling at night!
